On the edge of Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province, there is a free national 4A scenic spot - King Gesar City. It is not like an ordinary ancient city, but more like an open-air museum built for the heroic epic "The Biography of King Gesar". King Gesar City is located in Si'ou Township, Ganzi County, next to the G317 National Highway, and the transportation is very convenient. The most important thing is that there are no tickets! The entire royal city is themed around Gesar culture and consists of five main parts:
Sendrup Dazi Palace: The center of the royal city is the spectacular Sendrup Dazi Palace, known as the "Little Potala Palace". It is not only a museum, but also an important place to understand the Gesar epic culture. But every exhibit is worth savoring. The small hot spring pool next to the palace is a place for tourists to relax. Free foot bathing service is provided here. The hot spring water is constantly bubbling and has a strong smell of sulfur. A foot bath will relieve fatigue.
2. Wangcheng Wetland Park has a beautiful environment and is suitable for walking and relaxing. Here, you can feel the tranquility and harmony of nature.
3. Gesar Cultural Square: Walking from the Central Avenue, there are unique shops on both sides. There is a large sculpture of King Gesar on the square.
4. Zhumullacuo Lake: A lake behind the royal city. Legend has it that it is the place where Princess Zhumu bathed. Zhumulatso is a holy place to witness love. It is paved with 9 stone slabs, which means long-lasting. Each stone slab has blessings written on it, making it a good place for couples to take photos.
5. Nepalese Style Street: You can buy exotic handicrafts and experience the blend of different cultures.
Transportation: Navigate directly to "King Gesar City" and turn in from National Highway 317. There are ample parking spaces in the parking lot. Accommodation: Choose Mazhaga Hot Spring Hotel for accommodation, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, and there is a private hot spring pool. The breakfast is rich, and the viewing room can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the snow-capped mountains and lakes, which is refreshing. Outfit: The main colors of the building are earthy yellow and red. Simple clothing in white, blue or black is recommended. Others: The altitude is about 3,500 meters, the movement is slowed down; respect the local culture. King Gesar City in Ganzi County is not only a must-visit place on the Western Sichuan Ring Tour. Although there are currently not many tourists, the cultural heritage and natural scenery here are definitely worth a visit, allowing you to fully experience the Tibetan culture and beauty here.
